Health Secretary Teodoro J. Herbosa, who was in attendance, emphasized the profound impact of all stakeholders and partners’ commitment to improving the health and well-being of Filipinos.

He also highlighted the significance of the Universal Health Care Act of 2019, which offers a pivotal opportunity to transform the nation’s healthcare system.

One of the central components of this transformation is a renewed focus on health promotion and wellness, a paradigm shift initiated by the Department.

To advance this vision, the Department furthered the 8-Point Action Agenda, aptly using the tagline, “Sa Healthy Pilipinas, Bawat Buhay Mahalaga!” and underscores, among its action points, “Pag-iwas sa sakit”, focusing on health promotion and primary care over the next five years.

Secretary Herbosa urged partners to collaborate closely with the department and local leaders to implement grassroots interventions.

He also emphasized the need to tailor efforts to the unique demographic situations of local communities to achieve more significant and lasting health outcomes. In summary, he encouraged everyone to remember the “3Cs”: “Coordinate better, Collaborate often, and

Contextualize always.”

The 2023 Healthy Pilipinas Awards for Partners not only recognized outstanding achievements but also serves as a call to action for continued commitment to the goal of creating a healthier and resilient Philippines.

This ceremony, according to DOH in a statement, celebrated the past and looked forward to a future in which health promotion and wellness remain at the forefront of national priorities. -
